Insurance Coverage on Swimmers
Posted by Tab Guidry | 07 Jul 2007

SCSA Officers, You need to look at your Insurance on your swimmers and verify they are covered both when swimming at your pool and the visiting teams pool. I have been informed, Morgan City Recreation Department will not allow any swimmers that are not covered by their Team's insurance to swim in their pool. To ensure this is covered, Morgan City is requesting proof of Insurance on your Swimmers that needs to be turned in at our Wednesday night Meeting or before getting in the water in order for your swimmers to be allowed to swim in Championship. If you don't have the correct insurance, I was told, you can get rider insurance for just this Championship Meet.

We cannot change what insurance your Team didn't have in the past. If your swimmers were not covered by insurance when swimming at a visiting pool, we were lucky nothing happened. Morgan City Recreation Department has requested coverage of your swimmers and we need to comply. This type of Insurance is no different than other sports that are played at the Morgan City Recreation Park along with our own facilities.

Not knowing much about sports insurance coverage but learning quickly, in the off season, we can discuss more on insurance coverage on our swimmers and possibly the League picking up the cost so we may get a bigger group discount.

Apologies for any inconvenience this may place any team.

SCSA Meeting
Posted by Tab Guidry | 02 Apr 2007

Our next SCSA Meeting will be in the Big Meeting room @ St. Ann on April 25th, which is a Wednesday, starting at 7:00 p.m. I am still unable to forward the final 2007 Dual Meet Schedule. Only COYC and Larose's returned my e-mail . Once the Agenda is finalize, I will forward.

Remember, Championship T-shirt logos for your Swim Club are due to Marguerite earlier this year. Start working on that now before our season gets to busy.

Our Stroke and Turn Clinic will be Saturday, May 19th. The Clinic will start at 9:00 a.m. and finish by 12:00 p.m. With no rule changes, this year we will only have a Stroke and Turn Clinic. In saving time, please have anyone who will show up for the Clinic, review the S&T Tape, which each Swim Club would have. In bettering our Officiating and the integrity of our swimming program, we need to have has many possible to attend this clinic. At least one Coach from a Swim Club must attend.

Thanks and looking forward to see everyone on the April, 25th

Fast swimming, Tab

SCSA Proposal
Posted by Tab Guidry | 17 Oct 2006

No member club shall by contract, rule, or otherwise restrict any swimmer from electing to join any SCSA member club of said swimmers choosing for which such swimmer is otherwise eligible under this constitution.

Failure to comply with this provision shall cause the club to lose its good standing in the SCSA, relieving the board of directors of the necessity of a 2/3 vote to so declare such club, in accordance with article III of the constitution.

2006 SCSA Championship Meet - Thanks
Posted by Webmaster | 09 Jul 2006

All, We had another successful SCSA Championship Meet.

First I like to thank the Bayou Black Recreation District, Amy Williams and the Swim Club Parents for hosting the Meet. As those Swim Clubs who hosted our Championship Meets, there were plenty of planning meetings and much work that went on "behind the scene" to make the facility and the operations run smoothly as it did. A big thanks on a job well done to BBRD on hosting their first SCSA Championship Meet.

Secondly, I have to thank my wife Carolyn for the many hours she put in with setting up the meet to running the Meet Manager Program at championship to getting the results out last night to each Swim Club and the media. Yesterday, she and Barry Guidry (apprentice) did a great job in getting the results out as fast as they did.

Lastly, I like to thank everyone, League Officers, Coaches and Parents on getting the T-shirts, Heat Books and Lane Sponsors out and the Meet started on time with having all the workers on deck. The Lockport Swim Team for getting the touch pads and timing system set up at the BBRD Pool. I am sure there are others I missed, so thanks.

Finally, yesterday I witness swimmers from all Swim Clubs encourage and congratulate each other before and after their races. In my 16 years on the SCSA Board, yesterday was the first time I actually got to go inside the gym and see the swimmers, because I was always on deck. After what I had seen, I was glad I was able to break away and take a look for myself, on what goes on in the gym. There were no Swim Club boundaries as I saw different color bathing suits in each area. It was just great to see the many swimmers talking with old friends and making new. It was noisy as I always heard, but all were having a great time. As I glanced over again the gym before I left, I knew then this was what the SCSA League was all about; a friendly competitive swimming competition. It is the results of all the hard work and dedication everyone puts in each year on making each SCSA Championship successful. Again, thanks to all.

Yours always in Swimming,

Tab Guidry
